Oh, my heart. This book stole a piece of my heart. It was captivating and a real page turner. I am a big fan of the ‘I have loved you for years’ plot especially when it is the hero who has pined over the heroine for years. Gray has been in love with his best friend’s girl for a really long time. He pushed aside his feelings and was the third wheel to them. He watched their relationship play out and a bit of him died every day until he couldn’t handle it anymore. Years passed and Gray and Knox Oh, my heart. This book stole a piece of my heart. Knox’s dream is to be a couture bridal designer. Things have been going great between Knox and Gray. They are exploring the new dynamic in their relationship and in comes Robert, stirring things up. Gray as totally 100% in love with Knox. He was everything to her and was the perfect man. I loved him. He tried to make her life easier and better. It just took Knox a long time to see and understand the feelings Gray had for her. This is my first book by Erika Kelly and it was well worth it. Her writing is beautiful.

I loved the previous two books in the series and this was no different. Gray and Knox’s friends to lovers story was everything I’d hoped for. Gray has been in love with Knox his entire life but he couldn’t be with her because she dated his best friend. Erika Kelly has been my go-to author when I want a well written contemporary romance with a hero that will make me swoon. I highly recommend this series!

The Bowie brothers are back! *insert screams of joy* I love this series. I can’t say enough about the emotions it stirs up and the smiles that the stories put on my face. Gray and Knox, well, they – somehow - made it even better… Friends? Sort of. Lovers? No way. Complicated? In the best possible ways! To once again feel the events, the emotions, that brought these amazing characters together. To hear the banter and the arguments, the sorrow, the loss and the happiness that brought a family together and closer. Thankfully, there is one more Bowie brother who deserves his one. I will be waiting impatiently right here…

Nothing says angst like unrequited love. Though I'm not a fan of it, I was glued to this. I've enjoyed the first two Bowie brothers I was curious about Gray. Gray and Knox were childhood friends, Robert their other friend and an ex of Knox was an addict. He was part of the reason there was a rift in Knox and Gray's relationship. While Knox was from the other side of the tracks, Gray was always there for her and it was hard when the Robert turned out had an addiction it was more than they could handle. Knox wanted to stick bu her ex so badly even when it was toxic. Gray knew it was a never ending cycle that he'd never get out of with him being in love with best friend's girlfriend. That may have caused the whole falling out with Knox but I think what he did was wake up call. Years later they bump into each other while that may have cause a huge problem for Knox and her fashion dreams. Gray was her huge help and got her back on track. She might feel like he's doing it again like when they kids but she doesn't know they extent of his feelings that he would do anything for her. I swear everyone needs a Gray someone to always help you, support, be a good shoulder to lean on. I don't get why Knox always pushes Gray away even when the feelings come out. It's frustrating to see Gray hurt with each rejection, it's true though Knox does have one foot out the door in a way. Waiting for her big break even if she has a good thing in Calamity. I don't blame her with the bullying and her past but I would be more honest about that. But she's too in her head at times too. Tension between them is crazy waiting for it to finally light a match. When things just start to get better, Robert comes back into the picture making things difficult. Bringing back past worries and insecurities but also a big opportunity for Knox. Trusting him and all those confusing emotions with it made it difficult for her and Gray. It was a mess. Gray has always had issues with being not noticed so this hit a soft spot, Robert was always a contention between them. But that ending though way to go big for them both. I just wished it didn't have to come with all that drama with it. Gray is awesome and so dedicated, his love Knox shines bright she only needed to let it in and return it. I wasn't too keen how this ended but it made sense after how it all started. Fashion industry can be cut throat. The Bowie brothers are a tight knit group along with their SO's they welcomed Knox into the fray so easily. Interesting hint for Brodie's book up next. *** ARC provided for an honest review ***

I was gifted a copy for an honest review. I really loved Knox and Gray together in this book. Gray was caring, loving and supportive. He had been in the background for years always wanting Knox but never acting on it as she was with his best friend. Fast forward 7 years and they ‘crash’ in to each other and so the story begins. They get to know each other again - Knox gets to understand Gray’s feeling and open herself up to the fact they could be together - she never thought she was good enough. Loved catching up with the other brothers and Brodie’s book looks like it could be interesting.

Hmm. Between 3 and 4 stars... Friends to lovers. But I didn't like he was for so many years in love with her and didn't tell her earlier. And I didn't like he walked away from her... But he is more mature now and did well finally. Safe, no OP scenes, no cheating. Normal heroine.

This is my first time to read a book by this author and, besides being surprised with how much I enjoyed the overall storyline, I was totally impressed by the quality of her work and her writing style. It's so fresh and clean. I haven’t read the first two books in the Bad Boyfriend Series, but had no problem catching up with the story here, and I have every intention of reading the others before the fourth book is released in October 2019. The more-than-generous book blurb sets the stage providing a generous insight into where this friends-to-lovers plot is leading. It’s not nice to tempt readers with too many spoilers and I’m nothing if not a nice reviewer. Do I hear an “Amen”? Gray Bowie is that guy – you know the one – they are all rich, gorgeous and popular, the top jock who gets everything he wants . . . EXCEPT in this case. Meet the exception – Knox Holliday is that girl who lived on the wrong side of the tracks in a trailer – the one who stole his heart and never gave it back. The snobbish popular crowd mocked Knox everyday through high school by using barking noises and referring to her as a “junkyard dog.” But Gray always stood by her side in friendship and loyalty. Robert Granger is Gray’s best friend. He’s also rich, cute, popular, and a drunk and a drug addict as well. Oh! One more thing -- he’s also the boyfriend of that girl -- yes, the one Gray loves. This trio has been friends since kindergarten and together they formed a twisted triangle of friendship, heartbreak and love. Note: There is no cheating involved ever. But things do go terribly wrong at senior prom between the three. Finally, enough is enough and Gray walks himself out of the picture. Seven years later, Knox and Gray are reunited and begin to move on from just friends status to maybe something a whole lot more. Just when things are starting to heat up, of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, Robert swaggers back into the picture bellying-up-to-the-bar where Knox and Gray are sitting. Things immediately turn dark and begin to spin out of control. Some things never change, or do they? Erika Kelly hooked me with the opening lines in this heartfelt story. I was wrapped-up in every page from then on. The plotting is so well-crafted, pacing works well – never boring or slow – and a variety of interesting and intelligent characters keep it captivating. And there's a model ending with a perfect runway walk leading to the altar! (ARC provided by author in exchange for honest review.)

Gray and Knox grew up and went to school together, they were just from opposite sides of the town. Gray was also best friends with Knox’s boyfriend, and he was secretly in love with her. A chance disaster brings them back into each other’s lives, and nothing will stop Gray from showing her how he’s always felt. Absolutely loved this book! Gray was such a good guy, and I loved how he wanted to do everything he could to help Knox.

Erika Kelly does it again with her newest release, The Careless Boyfriend. Book 3 in her Bad Boyfriend series, takes us from Hawaii to New Zealand and finally back to Calamity, Wyoming, Kelly’s fictional town that I absolutely adore. The Careless Boyfriend has everything that I’ve come to love about this series: strong family dynamics, a strong, yet feminine heroine, and a Bowie brother that is vulnerable, sexy, and dedicated to his family. The Careless Boyfriend has everything that I’ve come to love about this series: strong family dynamics, a strong, yet feminine heroine, and a Bowie brother that is vulnerable, sexy, and dedicated to his family. There is so much to love about The Careless Boyfriend. Both Gray Bowie and Knox Holliday are rich characters that shine through in a series already heavy with great ones. Gray, who has loved Knox since they were teenagers, feels invisible in a family filled with superstars, despite his successes on the slopes and on the waves. Knox is a success in the design world despite being raised by an absentee mother and undergoing the type of bullying that only a child raised in a trailer in a wealthy community can experience. Together with Robert Granger, they formed an unlikely trio held together by Robert’s addiction-which ultimately broke them apart. I loved the clever way that Kelly brings Knox and Gray back together, which seemed unlikely, but I considered a tongue in cheek shout out to the “careless” in the book’s title. Gray doesn’t hesitate to step up and be Knox’s hero, showing readers right away who he is: a man who accepts responsibility but is also a pleaser, hoping to be seen by those he loves. Knox relishes being back in Gray’s life, but is hesitant to allow herself to be dependent on him again. In many ways it was heartbreaking to watch the two of them stumble around the things they never said to each other and the assumptions each made. I loved how Gray got Knox back to Calamity in a heartbeat. One minute she’s never going back to the place that caused so much heartbreak, the next she’s setting up shop in the Bowie stables. It’s clear to readers where she belongs, especially as Gray chips away at the walls she’s put up with help from his future sisters-in-law. Deliah (still my absolute FAVORITE) and Callie do exactly what I’d expected and welcome Knox with open arms, making her feel welcome in her hometown for the first time in her life. I loved watching Gray surprise his brothers. It would have been funny if it hadn’t been sort of sad watching Fin, Will, and Brodie finally see their brother with respect. In what I’ve come to expect from this series, this eye opening brings the brothers closer together, taking them one step further from just being Mack Bowie’s sons to ultimately being close knit brothers with more in common than just competing. Finally, watching Knox fall in love with Gray was incredibly fun and everything I look for in romance novels. It didn’t take long for Gray to break through Knox’s initial defenses and convince her how amazing they’d be together. It took a little longer for Knox to believe that she really deserved Gray and that he was for real. Just as that’s happening, Robert Granger falls back into their lives, providing the catalyst for the angst I adore in Erika Kelly’s books. While his role was predictable, it didn’t lessen the heartache that followed, making Gray and Knox’s road to happily ever after that much better. 4.5 stars for The Careless Boyfriend. Heat level: 3 I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for honest feedback.

This was a really enjoyable story. I liked seeing each of their perspectives on what their relationship had been in the past. In the midst of all of this, Knox is trying to salvage her future in wedding fashion which was derailed when a car Grey was riding in crashed into her home. Also, Grey is supposed to be training to qualify for snowboarding in the Olympics. The dynamic between Grey and Knox was fun to watch evolve. The unrequited love Grey had carried for Knox for years was so intense and you knew he was literally putting his heart out there when he confessed his feelings to her. Then, just when things seem to be on track, Robert reappears and claims he can offer Knox the perfect opportunity to still show her wedding designs at fashion week. He acts as if his intentions are altruistic but Grey is suspicious. I'm not telling anything more to avoid spoilers. "I'm thinking you're not grasping the situation. All I've ever wanted was for you to see me for who I am." "And who's that?" "The one who carries your heart." This really was a fun and enjoyable read. I look forward to catching up with the books on the other brothers as well!! I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I won't spoil anything more but there was definitely a lot of drama and tension between Robert and Gray. The thing I disliked about the book the most was that it was in dual perspectives but the author did not tell you at the heading of each chapter who was speaking. She did do a good job though that when she did switch perspectives she would name either Knox or Gray's name so that was definitely helpful.

Amazing friends to lovers romance. Gray has feelings for his best friend's girl and she has no clue because basically she thought he was too good for her. Knox has had a lonely life, between her mom's wanderlust and her boyfriend, Robert's addictions. Gray was always there for her until he realized he enabled her while she was in the codependent relationship with Robert. They all cut ties in one way or another and Knox has a somewhat stable life as a designer, except for Luc's manipulations. Amazing friends to lovers romance. This book really shows how much we can hurt others without knowing and how easy it is for us to get involved in unhealthy patterns without realizing it. I really felt how strongly Gray loved Knox and how utterly confused Knox was by this. I loved how Callie and Delilah embraced and defended Knox. There are a lot of sweet moments between the main characters that had a profound affect on all of them. I loved the interactions between the brothers and the crew. I was so happy to see acceptance in both Gray and Knox as well as realizations from Gray's brothers. Can't wait to see what's in store after that epilogue!

This is extreme sport athlete Gray Bowie, and bridal gown designer Knox Holliday’s story line. THE CARELESS BOYFRIEND can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives (Gray and Knox) THE CARELESS BOYFRIEND follows the rebuilding friendship and relationship between twenty-five year olds- extreme sport athlete Gray Bowie, and bridal gown designer Knox Holliday. The night of their senior prom Gray Bowie lost his two best friends as he witnessed one life spiral out of control, and another life pulled into the abyss of enabling. Fast forward to present day wherein a car accident would bring him face to face with the woman he has always loved. Enter bridal gown designer Knox Holliday, a woman whose enter future was destroyed by an accident not of her making. What ensues is the rebuilding friendship and romance between Gray and Knox, and the potential fall-out as Knox’s business is sabotaged by someone from the past. Years earlier, Knox Holliday was caught between the love of two friends but addiction destroyed said friendship sending the trio in opposite directions. With her business on the line, an upcoming bridal show featuring her designs hangs in the balance when a ‘freak’ car accident destroys a year’s worth of work in a matter of seconds. Gray Bowie knows a thing or two about business, and with his connections helps Knox repair and replenish that which was destroyed. The relationship between Gray and Knox is one of second chances, of a sorts, between two people whose friendship was destroyed by addiction, miscommunication and loss. Knox struggles with issues of trust as Gray battles the memories from the past. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. We are reintroduced to Gray’s brothers Fin Bowie and Calli (The World’s Worst Boyfriend #1); Will Bowie, Delilah and Ruby (the Heartless Boyfriend #2), and Brodie Bowie; Knox’s ex boyfriend Robert Granger; her mentor Luc Bellerose; and an assortment of people who work for Gray Bowie. THE CARELESS BOYFRIEND is a story of second chances; of friendship and family; of betrayal and heartbreak; of addiction and loss. The premise is engaging and captivating; the romance is seductive and spicy; the characters are colorful, energetic and inspiring. Copy supplied for review www.thereadingcafe.com

Three books into the series and I still think that the Bowie brothers are douches when they actually are not. Each man has his own winning attributes and yet I begin each book in the series thinking that they must have done something bad and I will dislike them. These men have big hearts though and each one so far has won me over in some way. Will's story is still my favorite though. I liked Gray and Knox's story, but I didn't like some parts of it. Both of them seemed to have feelings for each other, but they weren't voicing it which was leading the other to think that they didn't want them in the same way. Recently, I read another book where the characters had the same mindset and I just found it too much. Knox is a wedding designer who was preparing for a fashion show when Gray crashed his way into her life again. Literally. He was in a car that drove straight into Knox's home ruining her dresses. Of course, he feels obligated to help her since her future career was destroyed and that's how our story begins. I do think that is weird how the whole "you destroyed my house and dresses" situation wasn't brought up again and Knox went on to live her life as if nothing had happened. I get that she is a strong person who is always trying to make the best out of a situation, but I feel like that was something that it should have been mentioned at least once more. Knox is a good leading lady with plenty of talent and will. She made some mistakes in the book, which led me to be on Gray's side, but I liked the way she grooved. I love a heroine who knows that she has made a mistake and tries to fix it. Gray was sometimes a mystery to me, but usually, I thought of him as a good man who would do anything for the woman he loves. I understand why he walked out all those years ago and I don't blame him. He did the right thing back then and in the present time. Overall, the book was good and I enjoyed it. The pace was good and the characters were relatable and easy to like. Knox is a little hang up on the past, but that didn't make me like her any less. I would recommend the book.

The Careless Boyfriend is just as absorbing as the first two "Bad Boyfriend". This best friend's friend and friends to lovers story brings a completely different dimension to this genre. Knox has been best friend to Gray from an early age. Whereas Gray comes from wealth, Knox comes from the opposite side. Robert is the other one who forms this trio of friendship as well as being Knox's boyfriend. When things takes a turn for the worse on prom night, Gray who has been in love with Knox forever comes to his senses and cuts the cords. Robert goes for treatment and Knox leaves town to realise her dream of becoming a designer. A fluke accident which ruins Knox's first bridal show reunites Gray and Knox. Gray does his best to put things right and in the process finds that his feelings for Knox never changed. Together they do their best to get Knox's dream back on track and at the same time their friendship turns into more. Just when everything seems to be going the way they want, Robert makes an appearance. He makes an offer to get Knox's show back on track and although Gray is very patient and understanding, he finds that they are settling back into their old routine. He begins to feel like a third wheel again and Robert's behaviour doesn't help. Will the situation be resolved or will things go back to what they were? I absolutely love Gray's honesty, his kindness and his unconditional love. Knox is determined and focused. Robert, well is Robert! Although there is a lot of angst and friction towards the end, the author turns everything around beautifully to give the desired HEA. Brodie is the only one of the Bowie brothers who hasn't been struck by Cupid's arrow and it will be interesting to see what's in store for him. I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

There's a reason why I dislike reviewing books that are part of a series and this book is one of those reasons. Sadly, Kelly didn't do that. I know that the promos say this is a standalone novel, but without reading the previous two books, many aspects were confusing. If I put all of that aside, the basic storyline for Knox and Gray was slightly better than average. They had all the basics for a romantic novel--struggle to be together, guilt, miscommunication, meddling friends/family, and reunion. But without reading the previous novels, something was missing for me. I didn't close this reading with a happy giddiness, I normally do. What I did like was Kelly's approach to addiction and how sometimes loved ones of addicts just have to walk away. (I know from experience). Her approach to the addiction was spot on. Sometimes, loved ones must move on, not because they don't love the person but out of self-preservation. That's what both Gray and Knox did but in different ways. Upon seeing Robert again, both Gray and Knox returned to their previous behaviors (again very true to reality). If I separate Knox and Gray's love story away from the Bowie family history, I quite enjoyed the book, although I highly recommend reading from the beginning of the series not from this novel.

I am a total sucker for a novel with tenacious heroes and heroines. Knox, the female lead, is so strong. She is a total force that overcomes the obstacles of her past to become one of the most sought-after wedding gown designers in the fashion industry. Gray, the male lead, is a charismatic, professional athlete who has been in love with Knox since Kindergarten.....unbeknownst to her, of course. I absolutely ADORE Gray. He is total book boyfriend material. The Careless Boyfriend has a lot of wonderful scenes. There are a few hot and sizzling scenes too. However, the ending is my absolute favorite. Without spoiling it, Knox does EXACTLY what she needs to do in order to fulfill her dreams....dreams that include Gray. I just love the whole feminist aspect of her actions. It is totally Knox. Erika Kelly has found a new fan in me. Her writing is fantastic.  Her story kept my attention the entire time.  My heart strings were pulled at the right moments, especially when reading Grey's POV.  It was simply the best.

I received a free copy of this book from the author. You know - everything that happened to us as kids impacts how we act/react to our environment as adults. It's true. It's especially true for these characters. Yes, this is a work of fiction, but it's one of those that deals with real life issues. Knox, Gray, and Robert were all close friends growing up. Knox and Robert were a couple for years, a relationship Gray would love to have with her instead. Then one awful night Gray couldn't take it I received a free copy of this book from the author. Fast forward 10 years and Gray comes crashing back into Knox's life. Like literally. HA! To make up for the destruction they caused and ruined her creations he's offered to help make things happen for her in a different way. A route she never thought about taking. This, I thought was so sweet. Gray didn't have to do any of this for her but his love for her is still so strong after being apart for a decade he'd do anything to help her. Now of course there's some other stuff at play here. No spoilers, people! You'll just have to read it. *smile* The biggest hurdle these two face is trust. In themselves and each other. I think the author did a great job weaving in the real life torment along with the fantasy of their reality. That won't make sense now but when you finish the book it's likely to. I enjoyed reading their story. OH! This is book three in a series but you absolutely *do not* have to read the other two before you read this one. I wasn't lost at all and moved through the story just fine.

*I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.* I really enjoyed The Careless Boyfriend. Knox irritated me to no end a lot of the times but I understood her motives just fine. She had a terrible upbringing and wanting to prove all her bullies wrong. They were perfect together and it just fit. I loved Callie, Delilah, and the Bowie brothers and Ruby. I need to go back and read their stories since I would love to know more about them. The story was well-written and dealt with some issues that you wouldn't think mattered once people grew up. I enjoyed it immensely. The characters were relatable and I felt a connection with them. I cannot wait to try read the rest of the Bad Boyfriend series!

Is there any way for Erika Kelly to make the Bowie brothers any more attractive??? These guys are so far from the titles given to each for this series - I want one for myself. Knox has been the underdog for most of her life - albeit, a defiant one. On the cusp of realising her dream, it shatters, but Gray appears to do what he's always done - make everything better. With her future and past colliding and competing for space in her mind and her heart, will she make room for Gray? As always, I majorly swooned for the Bowies. I had a bit of issue warming up to Knox, as she was very indecisive and took so long to realise that Gray saw her insecurities and vulnerabilities and loved her unconditionally. I can't wait for Brodie's story, and recommend these boys - and the town of Calamity - for your reading pleasure. I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

Yessssss!! This book was EVERYTHING. It brought all the feels and held me completely captivated. Full review to come! . . . I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED this book! Some things are harder to let go than others. I enjoyed the support between the two of them and the respect they have for each other. They only want to help, not hinder. Gray is so sweet and caring and he gave me ALL.THE. FEELS. But the nefarious things happening made me SO MAD! I had to know what was going to happen. I enjoyed the way Erika lets the reader know SOMETHING is up, but doesn't give it all away. She hints at it, bit-by-bit. I love a good second-chance story and this one scooped me up and didn't let me go. I think this is my new favorite book in this series! Please don't let this book pass you by!
