In chapter two, Lauren says that she hadn't slept with anyone for a year and the last person she had slept with was her ex-husband aka Gage. From what I gathered he was also the only person she had slept with. Her body might have wanted some action, but her mind didn't since she was still in love with her ex and no one could compare to him and didn't feel right. So far so good, right? I mean Gage also seemed to be in love with her and both mentioned that he kept calling her talking about not so important stuff. He even went on saying that she is his soulmate, the one for him etc etc. So when Lauren mentioned the celibate thing, I decided to check what Gage had been up to. As it turns out, the dude might have been pinning for Laurel, but at the same time, he was sticking it into other womEn. Yes, as in more than one. He even dated some of them like he gentleman that he is. When Laurel found that info do you know what she said? She said that it was ok because Gage was a sensual man and she was the one who asked for a divorce and not him. That in my book means that he should have more to change her mind not stick it to other women This is a Too stupid to live moment for me. And it was downgrading for the heroine. Lady, you kept your legs closed because of your love and he couldn't keep it in his pants? That man kept saying that she was the one for him, but his actions said otherwise. I am sick and tired of the same "celibate heroine, hero is sleeping around" trope.

He loved her so much yet he still had sex with a lot of women. Just Gross. And he hooked up with her too during their separation. Is he was available why did he need other women? The hockey stuff was boring and unfortunately, I don't think I will read the rest in the series. Seriously disappointed in this type of trope. Another thing, I wouldn't want the wife to sleep with somebody else either. I am weird I know. Some of his thoughts through this book. LOL . Wow he loved her sooooo much. Kat Mizera prevails with LOSING LAUREL, the fourth book in the Alaska Blizzard series. I enjoyed the CIA aspect of the story. I appreciated that Gage is open-minded and gave a woman the opportunity to coach an NHL team. I love that Laurel helped to fix the disconnect on the team that has been talked about since book one. LOSING LAUREL was a wonderful addition to the Alaska Blizzard series. Followers of the series will not be disappointed. I recommend this book to lovers of sports romances and/or spy romance novels. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

I am always a sucker for second chance romances and this book definitely had me believing in second chances and happily ever afters. Losing Laurel is yet another skillfully written novel by Kat Mizera. It is the fourth book in the Alaska Blizzards series, the perfect addition to an already great series. Gage and Laurel were college sweethearts, they fell in love hard and fast. They got married and divorced just as fast, but that didn’t mean they didn’t still love each other. Gage always got what he wanted and needed, but he was always chasing after more, a bit of an adrenaline junkie with a hero complex. In Gages’ eyes, he didn't do anything to warrant a divorce, but he gave it to Laurel nonetheless. But when an opportunity arises for Gage to have Laurel working in close proximity, he jumps at the possibility of winning her back. He was not going to let go this time, Gage wanted his forever and he wanted it with Laurel. Laurel lived a happy life, but not the best life. She lived with the burden of her past and a broken heart. She had divorced the love of her life, but she never stopped loving him. No matter how much time had passed, every single time she saw Gage she jumped into his arms even if it was just for one night. When Gage asks her to coach the Alaska Blizzards, she is beyond herself. It is the opportunity of a lifetime. She takes the job with one condition, they keep their relationship strictly professional. Except Gage had other plans, and Laurel was a goner when it came to him. This book like all of K. Mizera’s books has a little bit of everything. It is romantic, exciting, passionate, sensual, and so much more. I was once again happy to get a glimpse into characters from previous books, it is one of my favorite things about this author's writing. K. Mizera has created a world that I am more than happy to get lost in, time and time again. Can’t wait until the next book in the series! 4 fantastic stars!

The desire was there, definitely, and they now had a close quarters opportunity to work out their differences. They were more mature now, and thoughtful, as they revisited the pain of their past. Unfortunately, that didn’t mean they weren’t immune to repeating the same mistakes… Seeing them work out the past, while dealing with the drama of today, made for a delightful one-sitting read. If the ending wrapped up too quickly for my tastes, it didn’t take away from the dramatic and well-paced delivery of the rest of the story. Blizzards for the win!

I've watched Gage and Laurel dancing around their relationship and was happy to finally see the two of them thrown together. Gage has always intrigued me, a billionaire still in love with his ex-wife, a man who has inherited a hockey team and is learning the game and getting to know his team. Laurel has won silver medals in the Olympics as a player, and a gold medal as a coach. She has the skills to play and coach, but there aren't a lot of opportunities for women in hockey. So accepting the coaching position with her ex-husbands team is hard to pass up. I think I'm in love with Gage; he is a good man in so many ways and while he has had secrets he has always had good intentions. I didn't know Laurel that well, so this was my chance to get to know the woman who is so accomplished and, in ways, so alone.

This is a couple that is older and their 2nd chance at love is rife with issues, misunderstandings, and drama but the love, passion and feels are still there. I loved the twists and turns; the way the story went. I can't wait for book 5 in this series. This is a really riveting series that keeps you hooked from book to book. My Rating: 4.5 stars ******

I am proud to say that I have been with Kat Mizera on this wild ride with the team known as the Alaska Blizzard from the very beginning. From day one I have been drawn to these characters, taken them to heart and desire to know what the future holds for each and everyone. I have been the most intrigued by not one of the players but rather the team owner, Gage Caldwell. I must say his story has certainly been worth the wait. Kat Mizera is one of those authors that, when you find out she has a new release, you drop what you're doing and spend the rest of your day reading. Her words are just THAT good!! One of those being, his ex-wife Laurel Saunders, whom he recruits as a temporary coach when things on the coaching staff go awry. These two can only remain guarded with each for so long before the passion ignites again. But will their second time around tear them apart again when all the secrets and lies from the past surface again? The twists and turns will keep you guessing right until the end. In all honesty, I wasn’t sure how I would feel about Gage from his appearance in the previous books, but he and his story grew on me so much in this book. There was a depth to him that just blew me away. And let’s not forget Laurel, who is one of my favourite female characters in all the series. Kat Mizera is truly an amazing author in the contemporary romance genre and she just continues to write these amazing stories filled with emotional depth, relatability, humor, sassiness and a whole lot of sexiness. This one does not disappoint. It is an absolutely incredible read!!

Losing Laurel is the 4th book in the Alaska Blizzard series but it can stand all on it's own. Gage is the owner of the Alaska Blizzard, having inherited the team from his uncle. Having had to fire his coaching staff during the season, he turns to one of the best hockey coaches he knows, his ex-wife Laurel. She is definitely interested in the opportunity to coach in the NHL, but is she ready for what it means in the league and more importantly for her and Gage. Such a sucker for the second chance plot. Especially with sports romances and especially rekindled from an actual marriage then divorce. Parts of it you surmise while reading but the reasoning for not bringing it out is revealed in the story so no spoilers here. One thing I will say though, had people had been honest from both perspectives but certainly his first, it wouldn't have been the way it was. The sports side of the story was the fact that he owns the team and needed her back in his life so he asked her to be the coach. The action in the rink and other off shoots made the entire book more entertaining rather than just a second chance romance. This is a first read of this author for me and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story.🙃

Another awesome book from Kat.  I didn’t even think about a book centered around Gabe, but holy crap was an extraordinary story.  There are many twists and turns in this book that keep me engaged from cover to cover.  As a matter of fact, I read this latest book in 1 day! We met a Laurel is a strong woman who has been living and breathing hockey most of her life. She has received a call from her ex-husband who is offering her the job of a lifetime……to be head coach for the Blizzard for the last 3 weeks of their season.  She has been keeping her feelings locked away and has not expressed to Gage why their marriage didn’t last or that she still loves him. Gage, what to say about him……successful, hunk of a billionaire and owner of the Alaska Blizzard hockey team. Lately his life has been pretty good however a scandal causes Gage to replace his entire coaching staff leaving him with a big hole in his team.  The first person he thought of is his ex-wife Laurel.  The women he still loves.   Unfortunately, his web of lives may keep him from getting what he wants. The book will have you trying to guess what the secrets are they both keep tight to the chest.  This have been coming between these 2 for 15 years. Secrets, lies, love, lost and hockey.  What a combination.   As I say with every book from Kat the new book becomes my new favorite. When I started this journey with Kat, I didn’t like sports romances at all.  Now I can’t wait for her next book to get released. Her style is complex yet simple if that makes sense.  As in life every situation has a complication that keeps us on our toes.  Nothing is straight forward, and twists can happen at every step of the way. Janine - The World Was Hers for the Reading

Billionaire Gage Caldwell seems like he has it all. He’s made a fantastic life for himself in Alaska and has a career he enjoys, good friends and plenty of money. But, he doesn’t have Laurel . . . the only woman he has ever loved. She may be his ex-wife, but he’s never quite given up on reconciling their relationship and he’s about to make his biggest play ever at winning her back. Laurel Sanders may still love her ex-husband, but she can never forgive him for not being with her when she needed Billionaire Gage Caldwell seems like he has it all. Laurel Sanders may still love her ex-husband, but she can never forgive him for not being with her when she needed him most or for all the secrets he kept from her. Hockey coach and star athlete in her own right, Laurel has moved on as much as she can and has a life she loves. But, she’s never had another successful relationship after Gage, as she can’t completely let go of the past. When Gage offers Laurel the chance of a lifetime jumping in at the end of the season to coach his NHL team to the playoffs, she can’t refuse. She knows it probably isn’t a good idea, but coaching the Blizzard is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Sparks fly even though the past seems doomed to repeat itself where Gage and Laurel are concerned . . . Will both Gage and Laurel be able to work through their issues, both past and present or will Laurel once again be the girl that got away? I’ve been intrigued by Gage Caldwell from the first mention of him in the Alaskan Blizzard series and Kat has made him a larger than life character in the best of ways! There is so much more to this loving and loyal billionaire than readers could ever have imagined. His professional life isn’t all it seems and his dominance in the bedroom was as sexy as it was unexpected. I also loved finding out what happened between Gage and Laurel all those years ago. I loved Laurel’s character and how she fit herself into a predominantly man’s world by being the first female head coach in the NHL. Watching her deal with the team and players was fantastic as she gained their respect. She was a complete bada$$! I’m also a sucker for a second chance at romance. I adored that this romance was never about loving enough. Both fully admitted they were still in love with the other . . .it was all about trust and just how damaging it is to a relationship when trust is broken. This was a really hard fought romance as the trust issues continue into their rekindling relationship and everything is put on the line once again. Losing Laurel was unexpected, shocking, exciting and super hot! I fell in love with this couple and their happy ever after. 4.5 stars!

I received a review copy of the book before release for an honest review. This story is about Gage who owns a Hockey Team in Alaska. He is older, a billionaire and divorced, and former military. It is part of a series about the Hockey Team, the Alaskan Blizzards but it only features those characters from other books, so it easily stands alone. Gage brings her to Alaska to help him out with his team. The why, is something I don't want to spoil as it is a big part of the storyline. I want to say first that this book was absolutely awesome. I truly loved it. It kept me on the edge of my seat as I watched whether they would or wouldn't make the playoffs and what would happen with Gage and Lauren. Those two are soul mates and meant to be but at times Gage is an idiot because he makes the same errors as he made some 15 years before. Despite that I loved this story SO much. It is well written and extremely heart felt and I absolutely loved every second of this story. Gage and Lauren were college sweethearts and have known each other for 15 years. They both love each other but Gage went into the military and it caused all kinds of issues for Lauren, as soon as he got out she asked for a divorce and though they are friendly and share friends they are no longer married. Gage brings Lauren to Alaska and wants a 2nd chance with her. But he is still keeping secrets from her and she is keeping secrets from him, so they really need to learn to trust each other. I LOVED Lauren. SO MUCH!! I loved Gage too at the start of this book. I would say he was a favorite character of mine before this story however he was a total idiot. Years later he is still making the same stupid mistakes and as the book progressed I felt he betrayed Lauren over and over again. I really wanted her to punish him a lot more than she did. And I don't think I could have forgiven him. In the back drop of the story we get to see the Blizzards fight to become a cohesive team. I loved this book and Lauren's story but Gage was a gigantic jerk until he finally gets a clue.

Losing Laurel is the 4th book in the Alaska Blizzard series by Kat Mizera. Laurel and Gage meet in college. They fall in love and get married. Too many secrets and not enough communication tear Gage and Laurel apart with them divorcing and going their separate ways. Gage and Laurel haven't stopped wanting or loving each other as the years have gone by. Laurel and Gage have given into their passion for each other when the itch becomes to much to ignore. Gage and Laurel haven't stopped wanting or loving each other as the years have gone by. Laurel and Gage have given into their passion for each other when the itch becomes to much to ignore. Will Laurel accept Gage's proposal to coach the Blizzard for the remainder of the season and into the playoffs, if they can make it? Will Gage and Laurel be able to keep their relationship strictly professional? Will the Blizzard players play for a woman coach? Will Gage and Laurel confess the secrets that destroyed their marriage? Can Laurel forgive Gage for not being there when she needed him? Can Laurel trust Gage when he says she is the most important thing in his life? Love the chemistry, passion, and love that exists between Gage and Laurel. The reader can tell how much each of them loves the other, but the reader can also tell how stubborn both can be when hiding their secrets from the other. More communication between Gage and Laurel when they were married would have saved each of them so much heartache. I loved Losing Laurel by Kat Mizera! Losing Laurel is a fantastic book with great characters who love and fight with the same intensity. Love seeing the characters from other books weaved into Gage and Laurel's story. Kat Mizera is a MUST read author for this reader. Losing Laurel is a great second chance love story, and I highly recommend getting it. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest review.

If you love sports romance novels, especially books on hockey romances, then Losing Laurel by Kat Mizera is the book for you. Mizera does a fantastic job in writing a series that allows the readers to follow along with the characters who they know and love and continue to see the story line develop. I was so excited to carry on the tradition of the Alaska Blizzards and watch the story of Gage and Laurel unfold along with the previous characters that we have been so lucky to read about it. I was so excited to carry on the tradition of the Alaska Blizzards and watch the story of Gage and Laurel unfold along with the previous characters that we have been so lucky to read about it. Laurel Saunders character is strong, determined and fierce. When she comes to Alaska to help out her ex-husband Gage, we are given a bit of their backstory on how she left him after he came back from his deployment overseas. Laurel couldn't deal with being the wife of a solider and needed to be free of Gage. There seemed to be more to the story than what meets the eye - a bit of a mystery and the readers will soon find out what really happened. I loved how Laurel stuck to her guns, didn't let Gage back into her heart lightly and fought like hell to win - both on and off the ice. Typically the characters in the sports romance novels are the players - however this time Kat Mizera treats us to a unique character - the owner of the team. Gage is a bit of a man of mystery - a former CIA Agent or shall I say current CIA Agent, Owner of a NHL Hockey team and millionaire. So complex - and so fun to read about. I loved the passion that he had for his ex-wife and desire to reconnect, his characters motivations seemed so sincere and genuine. I loved how he brought her back into his life, the patience he showed her and the love that he gave her. If you are looking for a book that has steamy, sexy love scenes then Losing Laurel is the book for you. Kat doesn't spare on the love scenes, quick and dirty and sometimes sinfully passionate. If you are looking for a read that has it all - then Losing Laurel is the book for you. It is a definite must read and addition to your To-Be-Read Shelf.

4 STAR Review by Jodi for Ruby Red Romance Review Another good book by Kat Mizera. I enjoyed the story. I enjoyed getting to know Laurel and Gage. There were parts of Gage that bothered me. He clearly wasn't over Laurel, but at the same time, he was out dating and doing things with others. I know you can love another with all your heart and it just not work out, but true love is all about trying. Laurel has always been in love with Gage I loved how hard she loved him. I loved how hard she wanted to move on too, but sometimes that just not possible. When she is given the opportunity of a lifetime, she jumps at the chance, with one condition, her relationship with Gage has to stay professional. This book was great. I loved watching the fall all over again. I'm so honored to have had the chance to read and review this book.

But as much as despises him, she can't deny the feelings she still carries for him, that man worked his way into her heart, and no matter what she tries to get rid of him, he is still there. Losing Laurel is a beautifully penned story of forgiveness, love, and second chances. From the very first page this one had me hooked, I met these wonderful characters and I couldn't help but want to stick around and see what was in store for them. Their story really did a number on my heart, it was emotional, angst driven, romantic, and very passionate. They had so much hurt to work through, secrets to unveil, and wrongs to right. There were also a few unexpected twists and turns thrown in there to keep things exciting too, it was perfectly blended, and well rounded tale. If you are a sports romance lover like me, then I have a feeling you will love this one too, it comes loaded with lots of "the good stuff" to leave your heart happy! Highly recommend! I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

Shattered when she dumped him him when he came home on leave she was his soul mate and he could be with no one else. Laurel was a two time Olympic champion and Coach of a gold winning female Olympic team. Surprised to get a call from Gage out of the blue wanting her to coach his NHL ice hockey team the Blizzards. Curious as to why he wanted her since there no female head coaches in the league. Due to something going down he had to sack his whole head coaching team. She was the only one he trusted plus she’d lead a gold winning team previously and he hoped she’d bring the team back from their current slump. She was pissed about everything that happened in their past but not enough to turn down his amazing offer on condition they kept their relationship entirely professional. Can Laurel do the impossible and lead the Blizzards from behind and maybe help them so finally win a championship. Will the past get in the way and will their private life encroach on the professional life despite their promises. Once you start this book it’s hard to put down with everything going on and Kat throws a few twists in you don’t see coming. I received a copy (thank you) in return for an honest review. Gage and Laurel are hiding secrets from each other that they don’t want to bring out in the open because the time isn’t right. Although this book is part of the Alaska Blizzard series it can still be read as a stand alone.

Hockey coach Laurel Saunders has never forgiven her ex-husband for not being there when she needed him most, but every time they come near each other, they still end up in bed, since she's never gotten over him either. And even though she knows it's a very bad idea, when he offers that temporary coaching job in professional hockey, she says yes. Will Gage finally get his second chance this time? This story was oh so good that I never wanted it to end. These two had so many sparks flying around that I thought it was going to set my bed on fire as those sparks flew out of my kindle. Obviously, the chemistry wouldn't be denied, so sexy times lit their sheets on fire, but it was more than that, as finally, some of those past demons came out in the wash. And they made for some HUGE twists that set my f-bombs to dropping. Plus, there's all the fun of coaching a men's hockey team which was full of drama, humor, and all around fun/excitement. I just wish that it was made known what had happened to one of the major antagonists because it seemed like it was never said. (Sorry that was cryptic but didn't want to give anything away!) Anyway, that's all the brief details from me, and I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
